Cinemas around Lickey

Empire Cinemas & IMAX - Great Park, Birmingham

Great Park, Rubery, Birmingham B45 9JL, UK – 0121 453 9751

Been here a few times. It's a good Cinema with IMAX screens but the place could do with a refurb. I booked my tickets online through their website as it's less hassle when I get there. I just collect my tickets from the machine when I arrive then pretty much just walk straight through the gates. Free parking with bowling and a couple of restaurants next door.

Comfy chairs, plenty of leg room, clean cinemas & toilets. Good selection of snacks to enjoy while watching the new releases in comfort. Easily accessible & wheel chair friendly.

Bournville College

1 Longbridge Ln, Birmingham B31 2TW, UK – 0121 477 1300

I'm currently studying BETC media and i'm in my last year and i can say that I've enjoyed my time here but like what I've seen in other reviews the course which I'm doing is nothing like what they had shown me. In the first year it was more paper work and little practical work we never really got shown how to edit and had to learn on our own or was just told to look it up on Youtube which didn't really help as the macs used are a bit outdated and some of them don't really work. The second year has been better with less paper work and more practical work also they listened to us students and changed the tutors around so we don't have one who teachers us like a degree class. The college it self is a nice college but its the people inside the college I mean from other reviews people have said that they let anyone and everyone and at the start of the year there was too many people to be able to sit down in the street which is there idea of a lunch hall which most of the tables are wonky or taken up but this seems to of calmed down as the year has gone by this might be because of how many people have left as i know from my course as in year 1 with we had over 30 people and now we have just over 15. Going back to the teachers I will say they are pretty good I've never experienced the whole just watching a YouTube clip but i can only speak for my course and they are all easy to talk to and they do listen to you which makes asking for help and advise easy to do. My over all verdict is that this college is OKAY I would wait to see what else comes from this so if your thinking of going here wait a year or two so they can get back on there feet as the old head teacher messed around with the money which meant the college went in to a lot of money problems and meant they couldn't fix what was wrong with the place.

Lickey Hills Country Park

21 Warren Ln, Lickey, Birmingham B45 8ER, UK – 0121 447 7106

The Lickey Hills is a great place for all. It suits all age ranges from the very young to the very old. There is a cafe as you enter from the main car park, unfortunately that is the only shop. So if you have not brought refreshments with you. It'll be with while getting a drink while passing by. Be sure to use the toilet too. The woods are full of wildlife and amazing scenery. You are free to roam anywhere, although there are set paths which you can follow. You could easily spend a good few hours here and get lost in a beautiful woodland with beautiful views from the highest points. For little ones there is a park area not far from the cafe, so for those with little legs, fun is a short walk.

Great pace for walking. Very steep hill to get back up to the visitor centre but there is a good play area for children. Cafe was very basic. Fabric seats were filthy, absolutely covered in stains. I wouldn't sit down on them so sat on a hard plastic chair instead. I would have given the park 5 stars but to say the cafe lets it down is a massive understatement.
